Branch Manager, Wealth Management Adviser
A veteran of the financial markets, John Lockie brings over 40 years’ experience to his wealth management practice. He leads Jarden’s Havelock North office, and provides discretionary investment management services to a diverse range of local, national and international clients.
John was the founder of boutique wealth management practice Lockie & Associates, which he sold to Jarden (then FNZC) in 2008. He previously worked for a number of national firms, advising institutions and corporates through what he describes as the ‘fun times’ of the 1980s and 1990s. Memorable transactions include raising funds to pay for Wellington Children’s Hospital; leading the first ever Euro issue for the World Bank outside of the USA; and ‘plotting and executing’ the takeover of ENZA by FR Partners and Guinness Peat Group in 2000, leading to a full industry restructure.
A lateral thinker, John says that alongside passion for the markets and strategic thinking, the most important attributes of an adviser are deep knowledge and a desire to help people realise their investment goals.
John is an Authorised Financial Adviser. He has been involved in the NZ wine industry since 1995, syndicating two vineyards in the Gimblett Gravels appellation. He is a Trustee for the Mills Family Charitable Trust, which has benefited education and the arts.
